A closer look

Inside the experience.

Your story

A returned letter. A silent bell. Your evening at the counter. For one evening, the impossible post office is yours to look after. A letter keeps sliding back under the door, and someone is waiting for a reply.

Investigate the papers on your desk, make three connected deliveries and receive one last letter. This is a warm, light, linear story investigation for one adult player.

What you will do

  • Trace and fold: follow a handover record and turn an old forwarding wrapper into a delivery decision.
  • Update and route: mark changes on an old map and work out a usable route with the item you have earned.
  • Compare and connect: reconcile staff records with workshop needs to plan a three-stop handover.

Enter your decisions at the digital counter to read the replies. The fourth letter is a quiet closing receipt, not another puzzle. Keep it on paper with a name, a nickname or simply “Here”.

Inside your download

The complete English edition, version 1.0.1, in one ZIP with four files:

  • Start.html: the story, delivery desk, graded hints, manual chapter return and archive of completed replies.
  • Print.pdf: five required black-and-white puzzle sheets.
  • Read-me-first.txt: setup, troubleshooting, personal-use terms and support.
  • Solutions.txt: complete answers and explanations, separate from the starting instructions.

Digital files only. No physical item is shipped. Gallery artwork depicts the story world; material previews show the supplied PDF pages.

Prepare your table

Bring a printer, five ordinary US Letter sheets (8.5 × 11 in), a pen or pencil, and a desktop computer with Chrome and JavaScript enabled.

Print all five pages single-sided, in black and white, at Actual Size / 100%, with Fit to page turned off. No scissors, glue or special paper is needed.

A4 paper, phones, tablets and other browsers are outside this edition’s intended support scope.

Download and begin

Extract the whole ZIP, keep all four files together, and read Read-me-first.txt. Print Print.pdf, then open Start.html in desktop Chrome.

The game runs locally with its resources included. No game account, outside clue search or extra paid chapter is required.

Playing, pausing and replaying

At a completed-delivery checkpoint, write down the chapter code shown on screen. There is no automatic save. Codes restore completed deliveries and replies, but not paper notes, typed drafts, hints or attempts within a letter.

Reveal hints one level at a time, with a clearly labelled final solution. Wrong attempts do not consume items or force a reprint.

Preparation and play times have not been measured, so no duration is promised. The story has one linear ending; replay follows the same deliveries.

Personal use and help

Personal play, replay, private backups and personal printing are allowed. Redistribution, resale and commercial use require permission; full terms are in Read-me-first.txt.

For help, include The Impossible Post Office 1.0.1, the file and step, and your operating system and Chrome version. For printing, include paper size and scaling. You do not need to share the name on your receipt.

The original atmosphere illustration was created with AI assistance. It is not a clue or a photograph of physical goods.
